We know as a caregiver you have a lot on your plate. Here are some helpful suggestions that may make daily life a little easier for both you and your loved one.

Activity
Allergy alerts.
When you’re out and about with your loved one, keep in mind that some trees like elms are notorious allergy triggers.
Be cool.
Falls and sprains tend to happen more frequently with older loved ones. For ankle sprains, applying ice and elevation can help.

Connect
Back to school.
Taking a class with your loved one is a great way to help them stay better connected with family and friends.
Get cooking.
Preparing a cherished family recipe is a great activity you and your loved one can share together.

Wellness
Keep covered.
Make sure your loved one has sun protection, like a wide brimmed hat and sunscreen.
Stay active.
Help keep your loved ones active. It can increase blood flow, improve flexibility and strengthen muscles.

Safety
Stop a stumble.
Marking tricky spots with brightly colored tape could help to prevent falls on steps at home.
Get smart.
Household devices that you can monitor from your smartphone are one way to help ensure your loved one’s safety when you’re not there.

Nutrition
Freshen up mealtime.
Your loved one might love snacking, but try limiting foods rich in fat, salt and sugar. Serve more fruits and veggies.
Healthy substitute.
Instead of a greasy burger, maybe try salmon. It contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids that can help lower triglycerides.

Tips for you
Relax and recharge.
On days you’re spread thin, take 30 seconds and close your eyes, clear your mind and calmly breathe.
Prioritize.
Being a caregiver means you already have a full plate, don’t be afraid to say no to requests that don’t need your immediate attention.
Talk to your healthcare professional if you have any questions or concerns.
